Use of Information
We do not sell or rent personal information collected on our website with other entities. We may use email addresses collected on our website to circulate news about Mayan Families and its programs; to promote events; and to acquire new contributors. We may share aggregated demographic information with our funders for the purpose of demonstrating that we are meeting our organizational goals. A visitor who receives email from us may opt out of email at any time by sending an email message to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Visitors under the age of 13
Mayan Families operates a general audience website. Our education programs provide material of interest to students and teachers. If we receive personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13, we may use it to seek consent from a parent or teacher in order to fulfill information requests. (We follow the COPPA guidelines established by the FTC.) Donations made through our online payment services must be made by valid credit card holders and/or owners of online accounts only. The information displayed on our web pages and news story blogs is intended for adults.
Mayan Families uses the services of PayPal to provide Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect online contribution payment information while it is being transferred across the Internet. SSL is an industry standard security technology.
Cookies may be used on the Mayan Families website for the convenience of our online visitors. We do not collect personal information via cookies.

Privacy of our e-mail list
Mayan Families maintains an e-mail list to keep subscribed members informed about featured projects, special reports from the field, project updates, newsletters and fund raisers. Individuals subscribe to our free e-mail alerts through www.mayanfamilies.org or by contacting Mayan Families. A subscribed member can unsubscribe at any time by sending e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org Additionally, each e-mail sent contains an easy, automated way for you to cease receiving e-mail from us. If you wish to do this, simply follow the instructions at the end of any e-mail.
Mayan Families maintains an e-mail list for those who have previously donated and those we have an existing relationship with but have not yet subscribed to our e-mail updates. From time to time, we may send an e-mail update to those on this list.
A carefully selected third party company is used to send our e-mails. Your e-mail address will not be used for any purpose other than to deliver e-mail updates.
