He died of cancer but had a terrible tumor on his leg and the whole family suffered.  He was bedridden for nearly a year.  None of the children went to school last year because they could not afford it. Jayro did not go to school last year because he was helping his father. He would take him out in a wheelchair begging in the afternoons, or sometimes just take his father's photo out begging for money to support the family.

The house that they live in belongs to Rodolfo's mother and sister. The family have given the wife the room that belonged to the husband. They do  not have a kitchen. They are sharing the bathroom with all of the family.

Jakelin's mother , Elodia worked very hard while her husband was alive, she did everything that she could to help him. She washed clothes by hand from house to house, she walked long distances to be able to do this as their house is not in a very populated area. She could not afford to take transport.

She was making and still is $2.00 U.S. per day. Now that her husband has died she wants to work even harder so that her children can get ahead.

They were not able to go to school last year because the family had no money. We have no arranged for all the children to be in school but they now need sponsors.

We have arranged for Elodia to have pots and be able to set up a tamale business.  She thinks that she will do well with this and has experience from before.   Elodia needs a kitchen of her own so that she can run her business from it. She needs a table and chairs.

The children get up very early to go to school, they have a long distance to get to the school.  They have two old bicycles and the children use these to go to school.   A doctor who visited the school has said that these children are very underweight.  They often do not have enough food to eat. The children did not have shoes until we gave them to them a few weeks ago.
