General School Program

     Many schools in the Lake Atitlan Region are in villages which are quiet small and very poor. They often cannot afford simple school essentials, such as lunches and materials to support the classrooms and administration.

What This Program Does

     The Mayan Families General School Program extends beyond individual student sponsorships and work done through the Construction Program. Rather, this Program helps the poorer schools to provide a better education through:

* Supplies of healthy food for lunches

* Classroom desks

* Marker boards and other classroom display supplies

* Books - both as teaching aids and school books for the children to write in

* Book shelves for the classrooms

* Paper and writing materials

* Faculty needs, such as lesson materials for the teachers

* Gas stoves for cooking school meals

* And other items as needs are discovered.
